PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating is a highly reflective roof coating. It can reduce the surface temperature of a roof and thus retard the deterioration of the surface. It can contribute to reduced heating and air conditioning costs. NOT TO BE SOLD IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
USAGE: TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating can be used to coat properly prepared smooth surface asphalt built-up, metal and modified bitumen membranes. TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating produces a bright aluminum roof surface which reflects damaging ultraviolet sun rays.
SURFACE PREPARATION: Before applying, remove all loose dirt and debris from roof surface. Wire brush all rusted metal. Repair all broken or rotted spots. Repair all leaks, cracks, breaks, splits and holes by embedding polyester fabric or open mesh fabric between 2 heavy coats of Plastic Roof Cement. Allow Plastic Roof Cement to weather for 30 days prior to application of TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating.
APPLICATION: Apply to dry surface only. Apply with a good quality soft bristle brush, longnapped roller or commercial spray equipment. Apply liberally, brushing in one direction only. Do not overlap. Over-brushing will interfere with leafing action of aluminum. TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating is applied at a rate of 1 - 1.2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Application rate may vary according to the type, age and condition of the surface.
IMPORTANT: TRI-BUILT® Fibered Aluminum Exterior Coating must be mechanically mixed thoroughly before and during application. Coating should be applied under normal environmental conditions without thinning.
PRECAUTIONS: FOR EXTERIOR USE ONLY. DO NOT APPLY IF THERE IS A THREAT OF RAIN, DEW, OR FROST WITHIN 48 HOURS. Do not heat container or store at temperatures greater than 110ºF. When transporting this product, be sure the pail is secured and the lid is tight. Do not allow pail to tumble as this may loosen the lid and allow leakage to occur. CLOSE AIR INTAKES ON ROOF UNTIL SOLVENTS DISSIPATE! This coating is not recommended for use over gravel, rubber or PVC sheet roofing, shingles of any kind or old roofs that are too dry and brittle to withstand the shrinkage stresses that occur after the application of any coating. Do not allow water to enter a partially used container. This may result in pressure build-up in the container.
NOTE: This coating, like all asphalt-based products, forms a small amount of water soluble material as it weathers. Normally this is not noticeable because the rain washes it away. However, roofs having a pitch less than 1/2" per foot, or ones having poor drainage, will accentuate the problem by concentrating the water soluble material in low spots. If there is no rainfall, hose these roofs off to remove the water solubles. Frequent inspection of these roofs is recommended because abnormally rapid deterioration of any roofing material may occur where water stands for long periods.
CLEANUP: Tools may be cleaned with mineral spirits. Use care when handling solvents. Clean hands with a waterless hand cleaner.
WARNING! COMBUSTIBLE! Contains petroleum distillate. Keep away from heat and flame. Do not heat container or store at temperatures greater than 110ºF. CLOSE AIR INTAKES until solvents dissipate. Contains volatile solvents that might contaminate potable water. Close container after each use. Dispose of container and unused contents in accordance with Local, State and Federal regulations.
